Transition Town Reading have an apple press and apple crusher which are available for community groups and individuals to borrow.

The apple press has a 20 litre capacity and can produce up to 7 litres per pressing. It’s quite heavy and needs two people to help with transporting, but it’s very easy to use and we find that children enjoy running the press (under adult supervision).

The apple crusher is used to mash the apples into small pieces before they go into the press.
The purchase of the apple press and crusher was funded by a capital grant from Reading Borough Council.
